The Second Smart City Chip Design Competition 2024 officially kicked off on the morning of December 18, 2024, in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Da Nang. This year’s event promises to bring innovative and groundbreaking ideas, focusing on technological solutions that contribute to building smart and sustainable cities.

The Chip Design Competition is an annual nationwide event aimed at promoting the development of the chip design field in Vietnam, laying the foundation for the advancement of Internet of Things (IoT) technology, Edge Computing, and Artificial Intelligence. It encourages and honors talents in the chip design sector and promotes the growth of the electronics and chip industry. Participants in the competition include students and learners from universities and colleges across the country who wish to design chips and have application research ideas or topics. Contestants can register individually or as a team (with a maximum of 5 members).

Launching the Second Smart City Chip Design Competition 2024

The competition is open to all students and learners from universities, colleges, and academies nationwide who have ideas, projects, or application research topics in the field of chip design. Selected chip design projects will participate in the following rounds:

– Idea Pre-selection Round (December 2024 to March 2025)

– Product Development Round (from March to April 2025)

– Technical Evaluation Round (May 2025)

– Final Round and Award Ceremony

The competition awards include 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize, 1 Third Prize, and 3 Encouragement Prizes, with a total prize value of up to 150 million VND.

In addition, the top 5 teams have the opportunity to register for a free Intensive Training Program offered by Synopsys at the High-Tech Park Training Center. The top 10 teams will be prioritized for incubation at the High-Tech Business Incubator for projects that receive high evaluations and align with business needs. This is an innovative and sustainable organizational approach based on an industry ecosystem that the global semiconductor association SEMI, along with leading chip design companies like Cadence, Synopsys, and Siemens, are implementing.
