LAUNCHING CEREMONY OF THE 3rd INTEGRATED CIRCUIT DESIGN COMPETITION FOR SMART CITIES IN THE CENTRAL REGION

On the morning of April 3, 2026, the Launching Ceremony of the 3rd Integrated Circuit (IC) Design Competition for Smart Cities attracted the participation of representatives from educational institutions, semiconductor enterprises, and a large number of students in Da Nang.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong – Member of the Da Nang Party Committee and Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Da Nang, emphasized that the semiconductor IC sector plays an increasingly important and foundational role in socio-economic development, particularly in supporting the goals of building smart cities and promoting green and sustainable development.

Building on the achievements of previous editions, teams from Da Nang won a total of four awards, including one Third Prize and three Consolation Prizes. Continuing these results, in the 3rd edition of the competition, the DSAC Center aims to further promote innovation and creativity, while enhancing technical quality through the active participation of educational institutions, enterprises, and experts in the semiconductor IC field.

Through the Integrated Circuit Design Competition for Smart Cities, the DSAC Center continues to affirm its role in supporting the development orientation of the semiconductor IC sector, associated with building a high-tech ecosystem and developing high-quality human resources to serve the socio-economic development goals of the city and the region.

Following the launching ceremony on April 3, the preliminary round will take place in May to screen and select potential ideas, projects, and products; conduct initial assessments of technical capability, applicability, and commercialization orientation; and identify qualified teams for the product development round.

The product development round will be held from June to August. During this phase, participating teams will receive training on IC design methodologies, including problem formulation and solution development; they will also be introduced to both fundamental and advanced knowledge, processes in semiconductor IC design, typical design challenges, and existing solutions by experts from educational institutions, enterprises, and major corporations nationwide.

The semi-final round is scheduled for September. The final round, along with the closing and award ceremony, will take place in October in Ho Chi Minh City.

The evaluation panel will select the most outstanding projects for awards, combined with a technology exhibition showcasing typical IC products, facilitating connections among students, enterprises, and investors, and creating opportunities for recruitment and incubation.
