On the morning of January 16, the Da Nang City People’s Committee held a ceremony to announce the expansion and inauguration of the Information Technology Park at Danang Software Park No. 2.

This event is significant not only in celebrating the 95th anniversary of the establishment of the city’s Party Committee and the 50th anniversary of the city’s liberation, but also marks a major step forward in enhancing technological infrastructure, facilitating the development of the IT, semiconductor, and artificial intelligence sectors in the local area.

To promote the development of the information technology industry, the city decided to invest in the construction of the Danang Software Park, the first model in this field, which officially began operations in October 2008 and was recognized by the government as a concentrated information technology zone in December 2017. Building on this success, the city has decided to expand and construct Software Park No. 2, which includes three buildings: ICT1, ICT2, and ICT3, covering a total area of approximately 2.8 hectares and a constructed floor area of over 92,000 m².

Software Park No. 2 is expected to attract around 6,000 workers to serve businesses in the semiconductor and artificial intelligence sectors. The ICT1 building has officially come into use with a total area of over 39,000 m², and more than 30 companies have already registered to lease office space, indicating the strong appeal of the park to investors.

Previously, Da Nang primarily focused on software outsourcing, but the city has now shifted towards developing technology products and services. The share of outsourcing has decreased to below 40%, while the digital economy accounts for 20.69% of the city’s GRDP, exceeding the target set for 2025. The Danang Software Park is considered a driving project that contributes to the realization of the city’s policies on digital economic development and scientific technology.

DSAC welcomed the delegation of central and city leaders.

The Chairman of the Da Nang City People’s Committee, Le Trung Chinh, also emphasized the importance of developing the digital technology industry, aiming for the digital economy to account for 35-40% of the city’s GRDP by 2030. He expressed a desire for support from the government and international organizations to promote the sustainable development of Da Nang.

At the inauguration ceremony, the city also signed a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation with strategic partners in the fields of semiconductors and artificial intelligence, such as Marvell Technology Vietnam Co., Ltd. and FPT Corporation. This opens up many new collaboration opportunities for the development of the information technology sector in Da Nang.
