On March 29, in celebration of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Da Nang Party Committee and the 50th anniversary of the city’s liberation, General Secretary To Lam visited the semiconductor and AI development center at Da Nang Software Park No. 2—a key project aimed at positioning the city as a leading high-tech hub in Vietnam and the region.

During the visit, the Director of the Danang Semiconductor and Artificial Intelligence for Research and Training Center (DSAC) presented the city’s development strategy and concrete achievements in building a semiconductor and AI ecosystem. After more than 20 years of orienting toward high-tech development, Da Nang is now placing strong focus on this sector, identifying it as a strategic key for the future.

General Secretary To Lam expressed his pleasure with the city’s technological progress and emphasized the importance of science and technology in driving sustainable socio-economic development. He stressed that Vietnam must embrace the most advanced and modern technologies, and adopt a strategy of “leapfrogging” in order to gain a competitive edge globally.

With a total area of over 90,000 square meters and the capacity to accommodate more than 6,000 personnel, Da Nang Software Park No. 2 will serve as a central node in the city’s high-tech ecosystem. It is not only a hub for tech enterprises, but also a center for research, testing, and pilot production in the fields of semiconductors and artificial intelligence.

In particular, the city is accelerating investment in a combined laboratory and pilot production project for advanced semiconductor packaging technologies at Software Park No. 2, including:

  • Laboratory (Lab): Focused on researching advanced packaging technologies such as 2.5D, 3D packaging, and fan-out packaging.
  • Pilot Factory (Fab): Conducting testing and trial production prior to commercial deployment.
  • Next Phase: Developing a large-scale semiconductor manufacturing facility at the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park.

Alongside infrastructure development, Da Nang is also intensifying efforts to train high-quality human resources. Five universities have announced the launch of IC design programs, enrolling 450 students in their first intake. Additionally, four advanced training courses have been conducted, attracting 70 students and 53 core faculty members.

To accelerate rapid and sustainable growth, Da Nang has actively partnered with leading global tech corporations such as Synopsys, Marvell, Nvidia, Intel, and Qualcomm through working visits and international conferences. These partners have recognized the city’s potential and expressed readiness to invest in the semiconductor and AI sectors.

Impressive achievements after just one year:

  • The number of semiconductor companies increased from 9 to 21.
  • 19 semiconductor & AI startups were launched in the first three months of 2025 at Da Nang Software Park No. 2.

During the reception of General Secretary To Lam, local tech companies also had the opportunity to showcase cutting-edge products, including:

  • HAPS & Zebu semiconductor testing systems developed by Synopsys, currently operated by GASA Holding (Sovico Group) and Connexus, located at Software Park No. 2;
  • A variety of innovations developed by Vietnamese engineers such as:
    • Vietnam’s first autonomous delivery robot by Alpha Asimov Robotics;
    • Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) by XB Link;
    • And an AI-powered chatbot robot developed by AIAIVN.

In the face of significant opportunities arising from Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW by the Politburo on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, and Resolution 136 by the National Assembly (effective January 1, 2025), Da Nang has identified this as a crucial moment to push forward its core technology sectors. The city reaffirms its commitment to creating the best possible conditions for enterprises, scientists, and students to access the world’s most advanced technologies and contribute to the nation’s overall development.
