During the business trip to the United States from November 21 to 22, 2024, the delegation from Da Nang, led by the Chairman of the City People’s Committee, Le Trung Chinh, worked with many leading global technology corporations to promote collaboration in the semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) sectors. In a meeting with Marvell, a leading company in semiconductor solutions for data infrastructure, both parties discussed the details of implementing the Memorandum of Understanding signed at the Semiconductor Day event in Da Nang in August 2024. Chairman Le Trung Chinh emphasized that Marvell is an important strategic partner in semiconductors and AI, and appreciated the company’s investment commitments, particularly the opening of an office in Da Nang in May 2024. He urged Marvell to expand its business activities, collaborate on training high-quality human resources, and support the establishment of a lab for training purposes. Representing Marvell, Dr. Loi Nguyen mentioned that after six months of operation, the workforce in Da Nang has increased by 25% and committed to continued growth, expressing confidence in the long-term collaboration prospects with the city.

During the meeting with NVIDIA, Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Le Trung Chinh discussed the implementation of AI training cooperation programs in recent times and suggested that NVIDIA enhance the rollout of the AI Ambassador Program (DLI Ambassador) and strengthen the training of instructors in the area. He also expressed a desire for the company to support startup, innovation, and research and development programs. On NVIDIA’s side, Shilpa Kolhatkar, Director of AI Nations, affirmed that the company will continue to strengthen activities to support training and skill development in the AI field in Vietnam, especially in Da Nang, while exploring suitable forms of collaboration aligned with the city’s direction.

In addition, the delegation also met with ITSJ-G and Philogix Consultant to discuss investment opportunities in the high-tech sector in Da Nang. ITSJ-G is researching plans to build a manufacturing facility for semiconductor supply chain equipment in the Da Nang High-Tech Park, while Philogix Consultant proposed the establishment of a Life Science Park, aimed at developing Da Nang into an innovation hub in the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices. Da Nang’s leadership has committed to providing maximum support for the effective implementation of these projects.

During the meeting with Supermicro, a leading global server equipment manufacturer, the Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee suggested that the company consider investing in an artificial intelligence data center in the city and collaborate on training human resources in the management and operation of high-tech equipment. Supermicro’s representative, Mr. Phidias Chou, Vice President of the company, recognized the potential of Da Nang and committed to positively considering the collaboration proposals. He also reiterated the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Supermicro and Sovico in September 2024, viewing it as a foundation for expanding Supermicro’s presence in Vietnam, including Da Nang.

The delegation also met with Qorvo, a leading global semiconductor chip supplier, to discuss the progress of high-tech infrastructure projects in Da Nang. Chairman Le Trung Chinh provided updates on the Software Park No. 2 project and the incentive policies for strategic partners in the semiconductor field. He expressed a desire for Qorvo to establish an office in Da Nang soon and to support training in chip design. Qorvo appreciated Da Nang’s efforts to improve the investment environment and committed to organizing a survey team in the city in the near future to implement collaboration plans.

The meetings not only strengthened the relationship between Da Nang and its strategic partners but also opened up many important collaboration opportunities, from attracting investment and developing high-quality human resources to building a sustainable innovation ecosystem. These efforts contribute to affirming Da Nang’s role as a national center for technology and innovation in the future.
