DA NANG – DAEGU ICT BUSINESS DIALOGUE: STRENGTHENING CONNECTIONS AND EXPANDING BILATERAL COOPERATION OPPORTUNITIES

On the afternoon of January 14, 2026, in Da Nang, the “Daegu – Da Nang ICT Business Dialogue” was held as part of the visit and working program of the Acting Mayor of Daegu Metropolitan City, Republic of Korea. Mr. Ho Quang Buu, Member of the Da Nang Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, hosted the Daegu delegation, led by Mr. Kim Jung Ki, Acting Mayor of Daegu. The dialogue brought together representatives of information and communications technology (ICT) businesses from both cities.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Ho Quang Buu expressed his desire to strengthen cooperation between Da Nang and Daegu in human resource development, technology transfer, business connectivity, and participation in technology supply chains. He affirmed that the Da Nang city government is committed to accompanying, supporting, and creating favorable conditions for businesses from Daegu and Korea to establish long-term cooperation and investment activities in the city. In particular, the National Assembly’s adoption of Resolution No. 259, amending and supplementing Resolution No. 136 on the organization of urban government and the piloting of specific mechanisms and policies for Da Nang’s development, is considered an important legal framework that provides preferential incentives to attract strategic investors in semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI)—areas in which Daegu has significant strengths.

The dialogue took place in an open and constructive atmosphere, focusing on direct discussions between government representatives and businesses from the two cities regarding ICT cooperation, business connectivity, and information sharing on infrastructure and policies for the development of the information technology and innovation sectors in each city. During the program, representatives from both sides introduced an overview of their respective ICT ecosystems, key strengths, development orientations, and business support programs. They also discussed opportunities for cooperation in pilot projects, market connectivity, research and development, and business expansion.

Speaking at the dialogue, Mr. Kim Jung Ki, Acting Mayor of Daegu, expressed his expectation that businesses from the two cities would further strengthen cooperation through joint projects, promote technology and human resource exchanges, and work toward expanding their presence in global markets. He also affirmed that the city of Daegu will continue to promote and facilitate connections between Korean businesses and Da Nang, fostering expanded cooperation in technology-related fields in the coming period.
