On the morning of November 16 local time, the Da Nang City delegation led by Member of the Party Central Committee, City Party Secretary Nguyen Van Quang, visited and worked with Synopsys Company (USA).

At the meeting, Mr. Rajiv Maheshaway, Vice President in charge of Business Development of Synopsys Company, introduced to the Delegation the latest technologies the Company is developing. An S&P 500 company, Synopsys is a global leader in electronic design automation (EDA) and semiconductor IP, and provides application security testing tools and services to the industry. Synopsys currently has nearly 20,000 employees worldwide with 2022 revenue of more than 5 billion USD.

Sharing with the Da Nang City Delegation, Synopsys leaders said that Vietnam is one of Synopsys’s strategic investment destinations in Asia-Pacific. During the period 2020 – 2022, Synopsys Vietnam has expanded to four offices in two major cities, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, attracting nearly 500 engineers. With the Memorandum of Cooperation signed with the People’s Committee of Da Nang City, Synopsys pledges to support the city in developing human resources for the semiconductor industry and expanding cooperation in the semiconductor industry in the coming time.

Secretary of Da Nang City Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang highly appreciated Synopsys’s proactiveness in supporting training and improving the quality of semiconductor human resources in Vietnam, especially Da Nang. He expects that the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding between the People’s Committee of Da Nang City and Synopsys will be the first step in implementing extensive, comprehensive, and effective cooperation programs and plans in the future. The City Party Secretary requested Synopsys to support the city in building international certification programs in the field of microchips and semiconductors; Support building relationships with IC Design Engineer Certifications organizations (3rd parties) and company partners to have preferential policies in evaluating and certifying personnel trained in this field; There is a free policy for individuals to participate in the company’s certification exams. He emphasized that the city always values and creates the best conditions to support Synopsys in production and business activities in Da Nang. Also within the framework of the working program, the delegation visited Synopsys’s ZeBu Data Center located in Santa Clara.

On the same afternoon, the delegation visited and worked with Marvell Company. Marvell is currently one of the global leaders in semiconductor chip design and data infrastructure provision, ranked among the top 25 largest companies in this field.

Talking to Marvell, City Party Secretary Nguyen Van Quang said that Da Nang is one of the few localities participating and is an active member of the Vietnam Semiconductor Network. On the basis of promoting strengths related to strategic geographical location with high connection with provinces and cities across the country and region; Transportation infrastructure and information technology are invested synchronously; Young, abundant, high-quality human resources; peaceful living environment; Da Nang is currently focusing on building a strategy to develop the semiconductor industry focusing on chip and microcircuit design, gradually developing the testing and packaging of semiconductor chips. The City Party Secretary expressed his hope that Marvell will promote its experience and results of operations in Vietnam over the past time, take advantage of new opportunities based on the good political relationship between the two countries, and continue to expand its chain. At the meeting, Mr. Mitchell Gaynor, Director of Marvell Company Office, emphasized that the Company’s leaders are very interested in the development of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam. Marvell has begun operating in Vietnam since 2013. Marvell Vietnam currently has 02 offices in Ho Chi Minh City with about 300 employees and will continue to expand to 500 in the near future. Appreciating the potential for developing the semiconductor industry in Da Nang, Marvell Company leaders said they will have a working visit to Da Nang in January 2024 to survey the opening of an office in the city.

Welcoming Marvell’s consideration of expanding operations in Da Nang, City Party Secretary Nguyen Van Quang pledged that the city will accompany and create the most favorable conditions for the Company to deploy production and business activities, aiming to goals that share common values and interests.
